 ATTENTION!             WARNING!            BEWARE!
COUNTERFEITERS OF EUROPEAN HISTORY AT WORK!

A vast campaign of counterfeit history is at work. The campaigners include leading national government figures and high European officials. They are trying to tell the European public that the foundation of our European Union occurred in 1957. They say that the year, 2007, will be the 50th anniversary of foundation of Europe, its Birthday!

This is false.

On 17 October 2006 a Commission press release announced:
"Be one of the first to visit the site which commemorates the 50th anniversary of the signature of the founding Treaties of the European Union on :  http://ec.europa.eu/avservices/50/index_en.cfm "

That day the Commission announced the winner of a logo competition with the phrase: "TOGETHER SINCE 1957". The Commission's Vice President Margot Wallstrom said "50 years of peaceful co-operation, growing prosperity and security in Europe are reasons to celebrate. It is also an excellent occasion to discuss what we expect from the EU in the future, for our children and generations to come." She was referring to the claims of the Logo Competition that "the signing of the Treaty of Rome {is} the origin of the European integration process."

ALL FALSE. The founding treaty of the EU was the Treaty of Paris.  It created the Constitution of Europe. Signed on 18 April 1951, it brought into being the European Coal and Steel Community and its  Five supranational institutions.  All the Parliaments of the Six agreed to this democratic FOUNDATION of Europe. To ensure that the whole European public knew that this was the real foundation of Europe, all the leaders of the Six affirmed it in a separate document on 18 April 1951. They said:

“BY THE SIGNATURE OF THIS TREATY, THE PARTICIPATING PARTIES GIVE PROOF OF THEIR DETERMINATION TO CREATE THE FIRST SUPRANATIONAL INSTITUTION AND THAT THUS THEY ARE LAYING THE TRUE FOUNDATION OF AN ORGANISED EUROPE. THIS EUROPE REMAINS OPEN TO ALL NATIONS. WE PROFOUNDLY HOPE THAT OTHER NATIONS WILL JOIN US IN OUR COMMON ENDEAVOUR.”

This visionary declaration and lucid judgement underlining the principles behind the FIVE founding supranational institutions was signed by Konrad Adenauer (Germany), Paul van Zeeland (Belgium) Robert Schuman (France) Count Sforza (Italy) Joseph Bech (Luxembourg) and Dirk Stikker (The Netherlands). It was made to recall to us, the future generations, our historic duty of uniting Europe based on  liberty and democracy under the rule of law.

The reconciliation of Europe in peace and prosperity was the fruit of the principles in this treaty. Today Europe is enjoying the greatest period of peace and prosperity in all its history. An embryo Common Market was already agreed in the Treaty of Paris. The Treaties of Rome are only an enlargement of it. In the same way the Euratom Treaty (also signed at Rome in 1957) was also an extension of the energy Community founded in the Coal and Steel Community Treaty signed in 1951. See the analysis of Treaty of Paris : the constitutionalizing Treaty at the origin of the EU.  Be Aware! Common markets and customs unions can lead to war as much as peace.

In 1953 a book by Paul Reuter, prefaced by Robert Schuman, said that the Ministers already had difficulty masking the illegality of their actions with ingenuity! Schuman in his book, Pour L’Europe, warned against political counterfeiters! It took Ministers nearly thirty years to agree to Direct Elections of Parliament! It still has not agreed to a single electoral law as written in the Founding Treaties! Civil society is gagged. The founding treaty of the EU and the subsequent treaties declared that civil society in the Consultative Committee, the Economic And Social Committee should be Democratically REPRESENTIVE. The Council of Ministers in its nearly fifty-five years of political opportunities has never made any initiative to make the bodies of civil society more democratic.

Schuman also said that inflexible bureaucracy was the prime danger to Europe's future. Instead of democratic deepening and streamlining, bureaucrats have initiated some 1500 secret and semi-secret comitology committees. The members of these are mostly instruments of ministerial, political and administrative patronage not democratic elections.

Schuman said that the Councils and the committees should meet in public, be responsible to the public and be under the control of public opinion. The European Council and the Council of Ministers still discuss major policies like Energy, Climate Change, Immigration and many other issues all affecting the lives of every citizen and the future of the planet IN SECRET.

Today  Europe is in crisis. How many institutions are there? What are they? Self-serving politicians have made a smoke screen. They have tried to manipulate the original democracy. The falsely-called "Treaty establishing a Constitution for Europe" tried to suppress the democratic institutions of the real Founding Treaty, rather than develop them. Politicians shamefacedly now admit it was not a Constitution. This was a disgraceful and dishonest marketing ploy to try to gain support at the referendums. Instead it was rejected by France and the Netherlands, two nations among the most fully aware of the real democratic history of the European Community.

Robert Schuman had made an in-depth study of  Constitutional democracy over many millennia. He wrote that Democracy is defined by the objectives that the people have set and with the means they have agreed to. 'Democracy is at the service of the people and acts with the people's agreement,' is his definition. It is an elegant touchstone to analyse politicians' actions. As French Prime Minister, 1947-8, he pioneered a new foreign policy based on the Community re-organisation of Europe, not destructive nationalism. He publicly announced the revolutionary supranational democracy at St James's Palace, London on 5 May 1949 at the creation of the Council of Europe. After obtaining full agreement of the French Government, he launched the supranational European Community system on 9 May 1950. Today, however, we have an inpenetrable jungle of 1500 secret or semi-secret comitology committees largely controlled by such self-serving politicians and bureaucrats rather than an enlarged civil democracy as outlined in Europe’s first constitutionalizing treaty: The Treaty of Paris. Politicians and bureaucrats are now trying to smother us in a fog of false history.

Be Warned!
Be Aware!
